I don't know about you, but when I see a cover like that, and a solicit that simply reads "The unthinkable", I know what I think.
Zombie Carl, that's what I think.
Just when you thought Rick's life couldn't possibly get any crappier...
It's going to be a long wait till the trade on this one.
You know who you are.

What sucks is I finished up Vol.5 of the trades and I'm still needing to get the rest of the ones that are out (I think Vol.8 is out, right?) and then I wanted to switch to single issues... but... this cover makes me want... want to read it!! NOOOOO!!!!
I don't think Carl is going to turn into a zombie. First, the covers vaguely represent the contents of the issue. And second, if Carl goes, so does Rick's motivation to carry on. Without Carl, there's effectively no Rick.
Actually TWD covers show pretty accurately what's going on in the issue. It's possible that Kirkman is fed up with Rick and want to torture him some more before killing him.
Who knows, maybe Rick would resemble The Governor? I mean, Philip had that whole zombie-daughter situation.
I have to agree about Carl being Rick's only motivation.
I think "The Unthinkable" has to do with Kirkman's back story.
Once Rick hears Kirkman's story, I think he's gonna stop being so hard on himself about what happened to Lori and the baby.
I could be wrong though... this series pulls no punches.
^ That's why I love it :) Can't wait for this issue.
What about that police station? What you think? Could it be overrun by now? I know that it was locked secure by Rick, but maybe some survivors figured how to get in?
no, Id agree with the poster above. twds covers are vague. the most they tell about a story is perhaps 46, 17, 22, or maybe 19. you cant tell me covers like 3, 16, 11, 24, 21, 36, 40, or many of the others gave accurate or any details about the story. some have barely anything to do with the story. more often than not, the covers barely reflect the story or give anything away. this one looks a little more giveaway than others, but frankly i woldnt be surprised if the cover was only a bare representation of whats inside.
My brother thought the exact same thing, but really, it could be anything - that's the marvel of this comic, 'aint it?
When I think about it, nothing's really "unthinkable"... can't wait to see what Kirkman's gonna throw at us in this one :)
This book just continues to amaze me. I began to get a little bored with everyone so safe in the prison but after the governor's attack and Rick and Carl out on their own I was again excited for the dangers Rick and Carl faced. Then I realized that the book really benefits from the ensemble cast, just as Kirkman reunited everyone. Brilliant.
I was a bit (just a bit) disappointed about this "Unthinkable" issue. I mean, almost nothing surprised me. Abraham's history? Nothing new. The appearance of Morgan and zombified Duane? Predictable. I'm surprised that Morgan decided to join the team though.
Adlard did his homework, his art is just amazing.
Can't wait for "Overwhelmed".
