From IGN the cover to Dark Avengers #1
According to the article, Tom Brevoort had this to say:
Who are the Dark Avengers? That's the question that all of Marveldom is going to be asking as Secret Invasion gives way to Dark Reign. Are they clones? Doppelgangers? Future Echoes? Or something more immediate and horrifying? And once their identity is revealed, that will only propel the Marvel Universe onto a path that will carry it forward towards an inevitable, explosive climax.Just as initial look, that looks a lot like the Iron Patriot (whoever he may be), Wolverine, Venom, Hawkeye and Ms Marvel in her old outfit - or perhaps Ultra Girl.
Still, I actually get a bit of a different vibe when I look closely - the Ms Marvel character reminds me a little like Thunderbolts' Moonstone, Hawkeye's mask reminds me of Batroc's and Wolverine...doesn't Wolverine look a little slim and clean-cut in this pic? And is it my imagination or does 'he' breasts?
Consider my interest piqued!

I'm pretty sure that "Wolverine" is a girl. Anyway, I can't pass any judgement until I see how it's done. I'm not hopeful.
I read 2 theories -
1 - that this is 1/2 (or however many) of the thunderbolts team, and it's osborne in the costume + Daken
2 - that it's Ultra Girl, Hawkeye, Daken, (?) Iron Patriot, (?) Venom
Maybe that's X-23 and the Young Avengers' Hawkeye?
Okay, lemme see...
Iron-Patriot aka; Robbie Baldwin
Ms. Marvel aka; Dr. Karla Sofen
Wolverine: aka; Andreas von Strucker
Venom: aka; Mac Gargan
Hawkeye: aka; Lester (surname unknown)
So you think the Dark Avengers are the Thunderbolts in costumes resembling the Avengers?
I'm hoping the Tbolts get to stick to their own book. But really, I'd be ok with whatever if we can get Clint Barton back in his Hawkeye gear.
I think "The Greatest Hero in the Marvel Universe" points to the event we see in Secret Invasion #8.
In the eyes of the lay people of the MU, the US government and the court of public opinion they all chose to elevate their newest, greatest hero to new heights.
That newest, greatest hero is... Norman Osborne.
With the fundings and resources of everything that has been dropped on his doorstep, he concocts the ultimate identity that both embodies his new position and thumbs his nose at all that has opposed him in all his days... Iron Patriot.
He has been given free rein (Reign?) to form the Avengers in his own image with his own sensibilities and with his arrogance he chooses to lead them personally. Kind of like the Thunderbolts...
It'll be great.
Moonstone, a female 'Wolverine' (That is a boob I'm seeing, is it not? (to the right of Ms. Marvel's ar?) Feminine face too.) Gargan and Hawkeye.
Hawkeye is a reformed criminal afterall...
Ms. Marvel states in her latest issue she wants to kill Norman Osborne.
Putting Moonstone in Marvel's old 70s costume would probably be a good reason to want to.
iron patriot is osbourne, hawkeye is bullseye and wolverine is daken. plus check out the "thunderbolt" in the background
Guys, the gut is the Wolverine costume is daken. To find this out, all you need to do is pick up a copy of Marvel previews lol.
It features promotional art for a later issue with dark vs new and the two wolverines facing off. One of which has two claws from the back of his hands and one claw from the inside of his hands ie Daken.
Also, I'd say that Hawkeye is probably Bullseye. What with Invasion #8 making a point of announcing his prescense in the book.
